Stay Consistently Comfortable

Superior insulation provides an effective barrier against weather changes outside the house. By minimizing drafts, and cold air radiating into the house, you'll eliminate cold spots, and inside temperatures "yo-yo-ing" up and down. Once it is set, you won't have to constantly adjust the thermostat to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. Your home stays comfortable from room to room and your family doesn't have to bundle up even when they're inside.

Insulation is important in summer, too.

Superior insulation keeps your air conditioning from working harder than necessary to keep indoor temperatures cool. If cool air is not escaping into the attic (see Insulation Basics) it remains in the house. And your energy bills start heading down.

Don't forget to insulate the ducts.

Properly sealed and insulated supply ducts keep the warm air warm and the cool air cool, delivering it to every room throughout your home at the right temperature and humidity level.

Air ducts pass through spaces that are already heated or cooled, and spaces like basements and attics that are not. The result is inconsistent temperatures from one room to another. In the summer, ducts can lose cooled air in the same way.
